Production of Fumaric Acid in 20-Liter Fermentors.
The conditions necessary for the production of fumaric acid in 20-liter fermentors by fermentation of glucose with Rhizopus arrhizus strain NRRL 2582 were determined. Continuous neutralization of fumaric acid was necessary for optimal yields. Yields of the calcium salt were in excess of 65 g of fumaric acid from 100 g of sugar consumed during fermentation of sugar concentrations of 10 to 16%. C...
متن کاملAflatoxin production and degradation by Aspergillus flavus in 20-liter fermentors.
Yields of from 200 to 300 mg per liter of aflatoxins B(1) and G(1) were produced by two strains of Aspergillus flavus in 20-liter fermentors under proper conditions of inoculum (well-dispersed growth) and aeration (0.5 volume per volume per min of air, 300 rev/min, 30 psi back pressure, baffles). Peak yields were usually attained in 72 hr, after which the aflatoxin concentration declined rapidl...
متن کاملUse of fumaric acid esters in psoriasis.
Fumaric acid esters (FAE) are chemical compounds derived from the unsaturated dicarbonic acid fumaric acid. The usage of FAEs in treatment of psoriasis was introduced in the late 1950's. In the 1980s more standardized oral preparations of FAEs were developed containing dimethylfumarate (DMF) and salts of monoethylfumarate (MEF) as main compounds. In 1994, Fumaderm an enteric-coated tablet conta...
متن کاملThe Propagation of Mammalian Cells in a 20 - Liter
The propagation of mammalian cells in stainless steel fermentors of a type used in antibiotic fermentations represents a marked departure from the techniques employed in classical tissue culture studies. Since the pioneer work of Harrison (1907), in which he demonstrated the outgrowth of cells from nerve tissue maintained in vitro, many techniques for the in vitro culture of cells have been dev...

In the title co-crystal, 2C6H5NO·C4H4O4, two crystallographically different hydrogen-bonded trimers are formed, one in which the components occupy general positions, and one generated by an inversion centre. This results in the uncommon situation of Z = 3 for a triclinic crystal. In the formula units, mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.
